When I was little, I didn’t think about travelling the way I do now (do I even dare writing that here on a travel blog? 😛 ).
I was a very shy little girl and twice a year I “had” to go on a camp. As from the age of 12, these camps were not only in my home-country anymore, but also abroad.
I NEVER wanted to leave for any of these camps, which also included me crying myself to sleep as from a couple of days before I had to leave.
Why did my parents do such a “horrible” thing to a young child?
The answer is very easy: I also NEVER wanted to come back home from any of those camps! 🙂
When I was older, my sister went on a traineeship to Africa and only one thought crossed my mind “how could she do that to me?”.
I missed her so much and couldn’t understand why she had to go abroad to do a traineeship when you could also just do it at home.
Then… things changed 🙂
I started studying International Management with a focus on China and got completely passionate by China and other cultures in general.
Even though I was used to making trips around Europe, my first visit to China changed my view about travelling completely. I wanted to see the world!!
Since then, live has been a constant search for me. A search of what I really want and where I want to be.
I did my traineeship in Shanghai (China) and oh yes, now I DO understand why my sister did her traineeship abroad. Now I even do not understand why she never did any special travelling afterwards anymore 😉
After having lived abroad, I couldn’t get used to my home-country (Belgium) anymore. Since then, I have lived in China (my all-time favourite), Dominican Republic and currenlty I am living in Gran Canaria.
And meanwhile, whenever I can, I travel to see the rest of the world! 🙂
